2025 Honors College Distinguished Alumni Award
Lancie Affonso ’96, ’08
As a student at the College of Charleston, Lancie graduated from what was then the Honors Program in 1996, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Though he left for a few years to receive an international M.B.A., he couldn’t stay away from Charleston for long. He returned to the College to teach and earn a master’s in computer and information sciences. The College of Charleston has been his home ever since.
In over two decades of teaching at the College, Lancie has developed into a gifted faculty member. He is a senior instructor of computer science and entrepreneurship, an Honors College faculty fellow, and the director of the Honors Entrepreneurship Living and Learning Community. He’s contributed much to our campus community along the way, particularly as a past member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors.
But Lancie’s true passion lies in mentoring. He was the inaugural recipient of the Distinguished Undergraduate Mentor Award, and it’s clear to see why. No matter his obligations, he always makes himself available to students for whatever they may need. He is a fixture at university events and at Liberty Fresh dining facility, where he connects current students with alumni. The life-long mentorship and encouragement he provides the students in the Honors College is a priceless gift he continues to share.
