Rudd Jr. Business Person of the Year Award recognizes graduates who have made significant contributions as business leaders to their industries or professions, communities, and the College of Charleston, and who have exhibited great integrity in their business and personal lives. The School of Business selects this award recipient.

2025 Howard F. Rudd Jr. Business Person of the Year Award

Cynthia Marcengill Legette ’93

Cynthia is a relationship manager and principal at Diversified Trust’s Charleston office. She is a trusted advisor of high and ultra-high net worth individuals and families. Before joining Diversified Trust, Cynthia was a senior vice president and private client manager at Bank of America Private Bank. She began her career in Charleston with Bank of South Carolina.  

Cynthia received her Bachelor of Science in business administration from the College of Charleston in 1993 and earned an MBA from The Citadel in 1998. She is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society and (sorority). 

In addition to being an active member of the Charleston community, Cynthia is actively involved with the College. She served as vice president of the College’s Alumni Board from 2016 to 2020. She is a founding member of the College’s Women for Women Summit Committee and joined the College’s School of Business Board of Governors in June of 2025.
