1980

Ellen Smith Fender is a retired elementary educator. Ms. Fender received the Human Relations Awards from the SC Education Association and a Certificate of Recognition from the Senate of SC for 37 years of Outstanding and Dedicated Service to the students in Colleton County School District. She and her husband, Rhett, live in Walterboro, SC, and have two grandsons.

Mickey Randolph is a Professor of Psychology at Western Carolina University. Ms. Randolph earned both her MS (1985) and PhD (1987) from the University of South Carolina. She resides in Cullowhee, NC, with her husband, Stephen.

John Zemp is in his second semester of graduate school in the executive master’s of public administration program at CofC. Mr. Zemp is a Security Analyst for the South Carolina Department of Administration and resides in Columbia, SC.

Jennifer “JJ” Jahn Larson was promoted to Dean, Student Support Services for the Richland Campus of Dallas College in August 2020. Ms. Larson resides in Keller, TX, with her husband, Kurt.

Becky Lloyd Dalton is a Senior Project Manager for Capsule Technologies. Ms. Dalton resides in Norfolk, VA, with her two sons.

Lisa Hungerbeeler McKenzie is a 6th grade ELA Teacher at Northwood Academy in Summerville, SC. Recently, Ms. McKenzie started a nonprofit organization called The Namayana Project, which aims to start schools in Tanzania. She resides in Summerville, SC, with her two children.

Dr. Michelle Asha Cooper has been appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Postsecondary Education by the Biden Administration and will serve as acting Assistant Secretary. Dr. Cooper earned her MPS from Cornell University in 1997 and her PhD from the University of Maryland in 2006. She resides in Washington, D.C.

Chris Bilcheck is a Senior Clinical Research Associate for Highline Sciences in San Francisco and resides in Palm Springs, CA.

Angela Allison-Yutz is a Learning and Development Specialist for the Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority. Ms. Allison-Yutz earned her MS in leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2013. She and her husband, Joseph, reside in Guyton, GA, with their daughter Aubrey.

1999

John Douglass and his wife, Kelly, welcomed their third child, Flora Rose Douglass on October 23. Flora joins older brothers, John Hyatt and James. The Douglass family resides in Charleston, SC.

Heather Cain Galvin is a Realtor for Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty and resides in Portsmouth, RI.

Mandy Marriott Gill is the Vice President of Global Marketing focused on US and Canada for Marriott International based in Bethesda, MD. Ms. Gill lives in Satellite Beach, FL, with her husband, Sam Gill, and their two children.

Alex Campbell is the Head of Commercial Finance for SeaLand in Miami, FL. Mr. Campbell is the Vice President of the CofC South Florida Club and a Master for the Cub Scout Troop 608. He and his wife, Meredith Roy Campbell ’06, reside in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with their two sons.

Paul DuRant is a Broker Realtor for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Columbia and Charleston, SC. He resides in Columbia, SC, with his wife, Meredith.

CDR Stephanie Felder is the Chief of Traumatic Brain Injury Outcomes for the Defense Health Agency and an Adjunct Professor for Tulane University. From March 2020 until May 2020, CDR Felder served at the Behavioral Health Officer in Charge at the Javits New York Medical Station. She earned her MSW from the University of Central Florida in 2007 and her PhD in social work from the Catholic University of America in 2019. CDR Felder resides in Silver Spring, MD.

Will Glasscock is the Board President of the International Book Project (IBP), an organization dedicated to promoting literacy around the world. IBP works with its partners to donate shipments of books to schools, community centers, and libraries. Mr. Glasscock resides in Lexington, KY.

Monica Biddix (MA) is the Founder and Principal of WorkHorse Strategies, LLC, in Asheville, NC. WorkHorse Strategies is a consulting firm for political and public relation needs. She lives in Marion, NC.

Michael Langon is the Managing Director for StoneX in New York City. Mr. Langon was awarded for starting broker dealer in London from BNY Mellon. He and his wife, Eveline, reside in Neptune, NJ.

John Rosen is a Team Lead in the G&G Operations Decision Support Center for Chevron. Mr. Rosen earned his MS in geology from the University of Louisiana Lafayette in 2009. He and his wife, Chyng Han, reside in Houston.

Becky Powers is the Owner of a Charleston-based, private chef business called Hey Becky. Ms. Powers’ stuffed peppers recipe will appear in the 2021 edition of The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Jeanmarie Tankersley is a Partner for the law firm, Clawson and Staubes, LLC. Ms. Tankersley was named in the Best and Brightest Under 35 list by Greenville Business Magazine in 2020.

Nick Johnson is a Logistics Manager for the US Army. Mr. Johnson earned his master’s in management from Walsh College in 2015. He resides in Grosse Point Woods, MI, with his wife, Amy.

Robert Lively and wife, Leslie, welcomed their daughter, Corinne, in June 2020. Mr. Lively is an Investment Broker for New Western Acquisitions. The Lively family resides in Holly Springs, NC.

Bucky Parks, and wife, Laura, welcomed their son, Richard Carlyle Parks III, in January. The Parks family resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Chelsea Moore is an Organic Search Manager for AARP. She married Bobby Clarke ’11 in 2018 in Charleston, SC. The couple resides in Washington, D.C.

Chris Ginn is a Geologist for Occidental Petroleum Corporation in Houston. Mr. Ginn earned his MS in geology from the University of Georgia in 2014. He resides in Tomball, TX, with his wife, Mikaela.

Becky Mercer McCarthy is an Equestrian Vocational Instructor for Teri Inc. Ms. McCarthy resides in Oceanside, CA, with her husband, Thomas, and their son, Michael.

Thai Phi (MBA) is the Owner and Chef of Pink Bellies, a food truck turned restaurant opening soon at 595 King Street in Charleston, SC. It was featured as the cover image for Food & Wine’s “Best Food Cities in the World” article. Eater named the truck “1 of 22 Hottest Food Trucks in the Nation” and Daily Meal listed Pink Bellies in the “Top 100 Food Trucks.” In 2016, Mr. Phi was featured in Zagat’s “30 under 30.”

Kimberley Martin Drakeford is the Campus Services Facilities Liaison and Assignments Coordinator for CofC. Ms. Drakeford lives in Charleston, SC, with her husband, Avery, and son, Kade.

Mel Sandberg Korobkin is the Director of Operations for Century 21 Redwood in Washington, D.C. Ms. Korobkin and her husband, Alex, reside in Bethesda, MD.

Arianna Megaro is the Supplier Manager for Boston Consulting Group and resides in Charleston, SC.

Shnickqua Mustipher is the Assistant Principal at Carolina Park Elementary School in Mount Pleasant, SC. During Black History Month, the National Committee for Children recognized Ms. Mustipher for her impact on the community as a Black educator. She previously taught at Jerry Zucker Middle School of Science where she received the Teacher of the Year award for the 2018-2019 academic year. Ms. Mustipher earned her master’s degree from Charleston Southern University. She resides in Summerville, SC.

Andrew George received a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biology in 2020 to study Amazonian fish and frog conservation biology at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. Dr. George earned his PhD in integrative biology from the University of Chicago in June 2020. He resides in Alpharetta, GA.

Cameron Starr is a Wealth Advisory for Atlanta-based full-service wealth management firm, Gratus Capital. Mr. Starr spent the last five years at Truist (formerly SunTrust), where he worked in the medical specialty group. He holds his FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 as well as GA/SC Property and Casualty Insurance licenses. Mr. Starr and his wife reside in Atlanta.

Wesli Jones is a Digital Producer II (Managing Producer) for CNN in Atlanta. Ms. Jones began her career with CNN in 2016 as a Digital Video Production Assistant. In 2017, she was a voice actor for Coca-Cola’s #CocaColaRenew campaign. Ms. Jones lives in Atlanta with her dog, Oakli.

Velvett Simmons is the Assistant Clerk of Council for the City of Charleston in SC. Ms. Simmons is also a Military Police Officer in the US Army National Guard. She is studying public relations at Full Sail University with plans to graduate with her MA in October. Ms. Simmons welcomed her first son, Ivory Jenkins, in January 2020. She resides on Johns Island, SC.
