October 2024

1960

Capt. John Condon (Ret.) served 30 years in the United States Navy after graduating from the College as a Naval Aviator and Naval Flight Officer, among other roles. From 1985-88, he served as Commander of the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. Capt. Condon resides in Palmyra, VA, and recently made a generous gift to the CofC Fund.

1981

Carol Parker Hieronymus has joined the Chattanooga Area Food Bank Board of Directors. Ms. Hieronymus is a retired financial services executive who held key leadership roles at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. Most recently, she served as the Market Executive for the Tennessee Valley Market based in Chattanooga, TN. Ms. Hieronymus and her husband, John, reside in Hixson, TN. The couple recently supported CofC’s Alumni Greek Life Scholarships Fund and the CofC Fund.

1982

Ron Cooper is a Senior Professor, Philosophy and Humanities, at the College of Central Florida. His poem, “Speaking of Love,” will be published by Bronze Bird Review in October. In November, the anthology Wild Wind: Songs and Stories Inspired by the Work of Robert Earl Keen, which he co-edited with his wife, Sandra, will be published by Madville Publishing. Throughout his literary career, Dr. Cooper has authored five books and several poems, stories, and essays. He earned his MA in philosophy from the University of South Carolina in 1984 and his PhD in philosophy from Rutgers University in 1990. Dr. Cooper and his wife reside in Ocala, FL.

1989

Pete Krug is the Senior Manager, IT, for Vanguard. He earned his MS in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1997. Mr. Krug and his wife, Tammie, reside in Charlotte, NC. The couple are generous supporters of the CofC Fund. Their youngest daughter, Caroline, is set to graduate from the College in 2027.

1995

James Campbell has been promoted to the Director of District and School Leadership, South and International Zone, at PBLWorks. Mr. Campbell earned his MA in teacher education and professional development from Morgan State University in 2006. He resides in Roswell, GA.

Patrick Ford is the Vice President, International Marketing Director, for Ford’s Produce Company, which produces tasty treats like Bone Suckin’ Sauce, Fire Dancer Jalapeño Peanuts, and Southern Yum Pecan Brittle. Ford’s Gourmet Foods, a division of the parent company, was recently recognized as the North American Marketer of the Year by the North American Agricultural Marketing Officials. Mr. Ford and his wife, Elizabeth, reside in Raleigh, NC, with their three children.

Jonathan Gray and his bandmates of Jump, Little Children, were inducted into the Lowcountry Music Hall of Fame on Oct. 6 at the Hanahan Amphitheater. Mr. Gray has played double bass for the indie rock band since 1995.

Chris White is the Vice Chairman, Southeast Region Lead, at Savills North America. Mr. White completed a Harvard Graduate School of Design Executive Education program in August. He earned his MBA in finance, strategy, and leadership from the University of Georgia in 2004. Mr. White and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Atlanta.

1996

Liza Browning Cobbs has enrolled in the MBA program at Fitchburg State University with plans to graduate in 2026. Ms. Cobbs is a Police Operations Support Technician for the US Army. She resides in Wiesbaden, Germany.

1997

DaNine Jenkins Fleming (MEd ’97) has been named a 2024 What Women Bring healthcare honoree by the YWCA Greater Charleston. Dr. Fleming is the Associate Chief Officer for Inclusive Excellence and a tenured professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. She earned her EdS in educational leadership and administration from South Carolina State University in 2001 and her EdD in educational leadership from Youngstown State University in 2007. Dr. Fleming and her husband, Travis, reside in Summerville, SC.

Mike Sheahan has joined Softility, Inc., as the Senior Director of Business Development. Mr. Sheahan resides in Smyrna, GA.

1998

Lori Williams Swan has been named to the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 2024 list of Women of Influence. Ms. Swan is the Senior Vice President, Senior Commercial Relationship Manager, at United Community Bank. She earned her MBA from Charleston Southern University in 2006. Ms. Swan and her husband, Chadwick, reside in Hanahan, SC, with their daughter.

2001

Tonya Cockcroft joined Pihanga Health as a Clinical Pharmacist Prescriber in July. Dr. Cockcroft earned her PharmD from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2009 and her post-graduate certificate in clinical pharmacy in prescribing from the University of Auckland in 2019. Dr. Cockcroft resides in Whitianga, New Zealand.

Cary Ann Hearst and her husband, Michael Trent, of famed musical duo Shovels & Rope were inducted into the Lowcountry Music Hall of Fame on Oct. 6 at the Hanahan Amphitheater. The couple resides in Johns Island, SC.

2002

Liz Berry is a State Farm Insurance Agent and Owner of Landmark Landscape Services. She earned her ChFC from the American College in March. Ms. Berry and her husband, Steven, reside in Simpsonville, SC.

Jessica Shuler Carraher joined the Charleston County School District as its Executive Director of Financial Services in May. Ms. Carraher resides in St. George, SC.

Victoria Hartsock joined FIG. 1 as an Intellectual Property Paralegal in September. Ms. Hartsock earned her MS in sociology from the University of Bristol in 2006. She resides in Spokane, WA.

Heather Murphy Woolwine (MA ’11) is the new Director of Communications for the Town of Hilton Head Island. She worked for the Medical University of South Carolina for more than two decades in various communications-related roles. Ms. Woolwine resides in Hilton Head Island, SC.

2003

Rhetta Simon Cloyd has been named to the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 2024 list of Women of Influence. Ms. Cloyd is the Co-Owner & Chief Marketing Officer of In the Black Marketing & Media Consulting. She and her husband, Ret. Col. Edward Cloyd, reside in Mount Pleasant, SC, with their son, John.

Jay McCown joined Quality Liaison Services of North America as a Business Development Executive in September. Mr. McCown resides in Summerville, SC.

2004

Jim Tunnessen is the Chief Information Officer & Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer for the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C. Mr. Tunnessen earned his MBA in finance from George Washington University in 2008. He and his wife, Stacie, reside in Potomac Falls, VA, with their two sons.

2005

Carol Butler is the Co-Chief Executive Officer of Naturally Sweet Café, a Fort Mill, SC-based mobile café that offers a wide selection of organic and/or natural non-GMO treats and coffee made with ingredients that are free from artificial colors and flavors. Ms. Butler earned her MA in human services, marriage & family, from Liberty University in 2012. She and her husband, Marcus, reside in Fort Mill, SC, with their children.

2007

Kristen Lanier has been named to the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 2024 list of Women of Influence. Ms. Lanier is the Client Development Manager at Terracon. She resides in Moncks Corner, SC.

Bristow Marchant is a Journalist for The State newspaper in Lexington, SC, where he covers local government, schools, and the community.

Erin McAleer (MA) was promoted to Learning Commons Assistant Director & Academic Support Services Leader at Tri-County Technical College in April. Ms. McAleer was named South Carolina Technical Education Association’s Staff Educator of the Year in 2023. She resides in Clemson, SC, with her husband and daughter.

2008

Elizabeth Hetherington has been promoted to Teaching Professor at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. She earned her MS in marine science from the University of San Diego in 2013 and her PhD in biological science from the University of California, San Diego in 2018. Dr. Hetherington resides in San Diego.

Ashley Wrigley Krieger is the new Client Engagement Director, Technology Services, for fme US, LLC, a software company based in Danbury, CT. Ms. Krieger and her husband, Michael, reside in Nashville, TN.

Mike Seager is an Attorney with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in Los Angeles. He earned his JD from Southwestern Law School in 2023. Mr. Seager and his wife, Nahal, reside in Studio City, CA, with their two daughters, Olivia and Isabella.

2009

Jeanmarie Tankersley Ethridge and her husband, Trip, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Caroline, in September. The couple married in 2023. Ms. Ethridge is a Litigation Partner at Clawson & Staubes, LLC. She earned her JD from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2012. The Ethridge family resides in Greenville, SC. Ms. Ethridge is a stalwart supporter of our alma mater, recently making gifts to CofC’s Class of 2009 Scholarship Fund, the Avery Research Center Fund, the Karen Burroughs Jones ’74 Alumni Scholarship Fund, and the CofC Fund.

Marcus Hammond has been named to Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 2024 list of Forty Under 40 honorees. Mr. Hammond is the Founder & CEO of the Black Food Truck Festival. He resides in Charleston, SC.

Anne Thorsen was promoted to Head of Service Delivery at Hackensack Meridian Health in June. Ms. Thorsen earned her MPH from Boston University in 2014. She resides in Savannah, GA, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Political Science Fund.

2010

Jennifer Darlak joined Tri-County Technical College as a Work-Based Learning Coordinator in August. She earned her MAT in middle level education from Clemson University in 2018. Ms. Darlak resides in Piedmont, SC.

Liz Poore Humphrey has joined Houzz as its Product Marketing Manager. She and her husband, Jason Humphrey ’09, reside in Mountlake Terrace, WA.

Emma Leyton Lehman is the new Growth Product Manager at TaskHuman. Ms. Lehman and her husband, Travis, married in 2017, and the couple resides in Auckland, New Zealand.

Lauren Redpath is a Trait Testing Scientist with Pairwise, a Durham, NC-based tech company pioneering the application of gene editing innovation in food and agriculture. Dr. Redpath was among the group of scientists who successfully developed the world’s first seedless blackberry. She earned her MS in horticultural science from the University of Georgia in 2017 and her PhD in horticultural science from North Carolina State University in 2021. Dr. Redpath resides in Holly Springs, NC.

2011

Alexandra Moor English is the new Chief Advancement Officer of American College of the Building Arts. Ms. English earned her MEd in elementary education from the University of South Carolina in 2015. She and her husband, Quinn English ’10, welcomed their daughter, Cordie, to the family in 2023. The family of three resides in Charleston, SC.

Amy Mixson Stasiukaitis has been named to Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 2024 list of Women of Influence. Ms. Stasiukaitis is the Chief of Staff for Low Country Case & Millwork. She and her husband, David Stasiukaitis ’07, reside in Summerville, SC, and are spirited supporters of our alma mater.

2012

Abigail Darlington has been named to Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 2024 list of Women of Influence. She joined the STEM Next Opportunity Fund as its Director of Communications in August. Ms. Darlington resides in Charleston, SC.

Jordan Homan joined unstructured.io as a Senior Software Engineer in September. Mr. Homan resides in Charleston, SC.

Elyse Chubb Welch has been named to Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 2024 list of Women of Influence. Ms. Welch is a Partner at Carolina Retail Experts. She and her husband, Justin, reside in Mount Pleasant, SC, and are fervent supporters of the Charleston Athletic Fund.

2013

Julie King is an Evaluation Support Consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank. She earned her MA in Latin American studies and Spanish from American University in 2015. Ms. King resides in Chevy Chase, MD.

Marion Lake has started her own private practice, Another Chance Psychotherapy & Consultation Services, LLC. Ms. Lake earned her MSW from the University of South Carolina in 2016. She resides in Charlotte, NC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

2014

Maddi Edwards Bednar and her husband, Parker Bednar ’14, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Lucy, in September. Ms. Bednar is the Associate Director for Early Engagement at Princeton University’s Center for Career Development. The family of three resides in Milltown, NJ.

Abbie Geddings Linnerud was recently promoted to Senior Director of Client Services and Associate Partner at Trio Solutions, Inc., a Mount Pleasant, SC-based marketing agency. Ms. Linnerud and her husband, Ben, reside in Charleston, SC.

Chrissy Testa Mellinger (MBA) is a Business Coach and the Founder of Chrissy Mellinger, LLC. She resides in Felton, DE.

Griffin Peddicord has joined Xange.com as an Advisor. Mr. Peddicord resides in London, England.

Erin Byrum Riley (MAcc ’15) is a Certified Public Accountant for BNA CPAs & Advisors. Ms. Riley resides in Rock Hill, SC, with her daughter, Cara, and son, Tradd.

2015

Gage Baxter has been promoted to Managing Director of the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Belmont University. Mr. Baxter earned his MS in strategic communications and leadership from Belmont University. He resides in Nashville, TN, and recently made a gift to support CofC’s School of the Arts Dean’s Excellence Fund.

Victoria Ward Gaul has been promoted to Senior Director, Project Management Office, at Zuri Group. Ms. Gaul and her husband, Patrick, reside in Charleston, SC. Ms. Gaul is a stalwart supporter of CofC’s Schottland Programs Endowment Fund.

Justin Herp (MSA ’16) was promoted to Senior Manager, National Tax Practice, at Elliott Davis in September. Mr. Herp resides in Charleston, SC, and serves on the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Honors College Advisory Board. He is a stalwart supporter of multiple CofC funds.

Shaun O’Brien has joined Mesh Suture, Inc. as a Key Account Manager. Mr. O’Brien earned his MS in medical science from the University of Vermont in 2016. He resides in Dover, NH.

Claire Wagner is the new Director, Brands and Properties, of Wasserman in New York City.

2016

Max Getler is a Fire Support Officer in the United States Marine Corps. He is currently pursuing his MBA in sustainable enterprise from the University of Washington with plans to graduate in 2026. Mr. Getler resides in Seattle.

Ben Schwartz is a Prospect Developer at the International Institute of New England. Mr. Schwartz earned his MPA from American University in 2022. He resides in Medford, MA.

Kara Smoak has been named to The Nashville Briefing’s list of 30 Under 30 for 2024. Ms. Smoak is the Senior Marketing Manager at Messina Touring Group, LLC. She resides in Austin, TX.

Carissa Jenkins Wright (MS ’17) has been promoted to Manager at Moody & O’Neal CPAs, LLC. She and her husband, Antonio, reside in Fort Huachuca, AZ.

2017

Denise Dentino joined Access, an event management company, as a Creative Manager in September. Ms. Dentino resides in Rockaway, NJ.

Seamus Grady has been promoted to Football / Baseball / Softball Product Lead at FloSports. He is currently pursuing his AS in game development, animation, and motion graphics from Austin Community College with plans to graduate in 2026. Mr. Grady and his wife, Sarah Hall Grady ’13, reside in Jonestown, TX.

Amanda Malool has enrolled in the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s dual-degree MS, MBA sport management program. Ms. Malool earned her JD from Rutgers Law School in 2022. She resides in Scotch Plains, NJ.

Melanie Ropp has been promoted to Senior Account Director with The Goat Agency. Ms. Ropp resides in Johns Island, SC, and recently made a generous gift to the Charleston Athletic Fund.

2018

Jessie Riley Litton is a new Postpartum Nurse with Norton Healthcare in Louisville, KY. Ms. Litton and her husband, Jacob, married in 2022, and the couple resides in Louisville, KY.

Brianna Mawra has joined the Dutch Cycling Embassy in Utrecht, the Netherlands, as an International Cooperation Intern. Ms. Mawra earned her Master of Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Amsterdam in August. She resides in Amsterdam.

Emma Milano has been promoted to Community Manager at Bond Collective in Center City Philadelphia.

Amanda Thomas (MS ’19) has been promoted to Tax Manager at Moody & O’Neal CPAs LLC. She and her husband, Anthony Lato ’20, reside in Stamford, CT.

Clare Tompkins Estes (MBA ’23) has joined JonesTrading as a Compliance Officer. Ms. Tompkins earned her JD from the Georgia State University College of Law in 2022. She resides in Charleston, SC.

2019

Tanner Chassman joined Charlotte FC as the Head Coach of the club’s U15 team in August. While at the College, Mr. Chassman served as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s Soccer team. He previously served as the U13 Head Coach for the Houston Dynamo. Mr. Chassman resides in Charlotte, NC.

Kaleb Dill is an Advertising Strategist for Cox Automotive Inc. He married Savannah Robbins in September, and the couple resides in Greenville, SC.

Ellen Dobson is a new Acute Care Physical Therapist with LewisGale Regional Health System. Dr. Dobson earned her DPT from Emory & Henry University in August. She resides in Roanoke, VA.

Lauren Furey announced her first cooking show, “Now We’re Cookin’,” will launch on public television’s SCETV in October. Ms. Furey films her cooking show in Charleston, SC.

Mikkel Hannah-Harding has been promoted to Evening Meteorologist at WRDW WAGT News 12 26 in Augusta, GA.

Thomas Middleton has been promoted to Procurement Specialist at Gulfstream Aerospace. Mr. Middleton resides in Savannah, GA.

Tyler Troy joined Capital One as its Senior Associate, Card Product Management, in September. Mr. Troy resides in Washington, D.C.

2020

Jared Ball joined the North Carolina Department of Justice as a Forensic Chemist in September.

Bobby Carey joined PHD as its Supervisor, Brand Strategy & Planning, in September. Mr. Carey resides in New York City and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Madison Chowdhury joined Accenture as a Senior Analyst, Product Management, in July. Ms. Chowdhury resides in Austin, TX.

Mary Geer Kirkland has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough’s Charleston, SC office. Ms. Kirkland earned both her JD and her International MBA from the University of South Carolina in May. She resides in Charleston, SC.

Annie Grace Whitfield McCarty gave birth to her daughter, Aubrey Kate, in September. She and her husband, William, reside in Simpsonville, SC.

Macie McCaskill has joined Ampersand as a Sales Coordinator in Bethesda, MD.

Nate Norton joined Arrow Electronics in September as its Account Executive, Team Lead, in Boston.

Samantha Rudd was promoted to Senior Solutions Engineer at Quartile. Ms. Rudd resides in Berwyn, PA.

Erin Spurrier has joined Coppermine as a Graphic Designer in Baltimore.

Hannah Berkley Stewart joined Oklahoma City Philharmonic as a Development Manager in September. Ms. Stewart resides in Oklahoma City.

Lauren Wildermuth has been promoted to Senior Marketing Executive with Hilton Grand Vacations. Ms. Wildermuth resides in Charleston, SC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

2021

Alexandria Caporale is a 4th Grade Teacher at James B. Edwards Elementary School. She is currently pursuing her MEd in literacy education with an ESOL focus at The Citadel. Ms. Caporale resides in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Daniel Clavier is the new Operations Manager at the Hyatt House hotel in Nashville, TN.

Jesse Dasinger is a Nurse at MUSC and resides in North Charleston, SC.

Madison Davis James is a Health Program Manager with Trident United Way. Ms. Davis earned her MPH in applied epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in August. She and her husband, Dylan, married in March, and the couple resides in Charleston, SC.

Shykeria King joined MUSC Health as a Program Coordinator for Volunteer Services in August. Ms. King is pursuing her MHA from Michigan State University. She resides in Charleston, SC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Fund.

Brooke Sansone married American singer/songwriter Charlie Puth in September. Ms. Sansone resides in Monmouth Beach, NJ.

2022

Emily Benton is a Teacher at James B. Edwards Elementary School. Ms. Benton resides in Charleston, SC.

Morgan Brown-Walker began her studies at the Duke University School of Medicine in June. Ms. Brown-Walker resides in Columbia, SC, and recently supported CofC’s Alumni Association Fund and School of Sciences, Mathematics, and Engineering Dean’s Excellence Fund.

Kalie Henderson is a new Marketing Coordinator at Polly’s Fine Jewelry. She earned her MS in communication from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in September. Ms. Henderson resides in Charleston, SC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

John Moffett is running for District 110 in the South Carolina House of Representatives. Mr. Moffett is the Vice President of Mercury Public Affairs. He and his wife, Annika, welcomed their daughter, Margot, to the family in September. The family of three resides in Charleston, SC. Mr. Moffett recently made gifts to support CofC’s Alumni Association Fund and the Charleston Athletic Fund.

Rachel Sartip has joined Rescue Spa as an Ecommerce Customer Support Consultant in Philadelphia.

2023

Lauren Bihm is a new Property Caretaker for Vacasa. Ms. Bihm resides in Mount Pleasant, SC, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Alexandria Corkery is a new Children’s Library Assistant at Waccamaw Neck Branch Library in Pawleys Island, SC. Ms. Corkery recently made gifts to CofC’s Alumni and Alumni Association Funds.

Mary Page Crouch (MS ’24) is a new Audit Associate at Elliott Davis in Charleston, SC. Ms. Crouch recently made gifts to CofC’s Alumni Fund and Alumni Association Fund.

Bryce Dawkins is an Associate for CBRE in the company’s Saddle Brook, NJ, office. Mr. Dawkins resides in Ridgewood, NJ, and recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Celia Fanning is a new Program Intern with the Business Council for International Understanding in Washington, D.C. Ms. Fanning recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

2024

Lucy Dantz joined the Trinity Repertory Company, a non-profit regional theater located in Providence, RI, as an Arts Administration Apprentice in September. Ms. Dantz recently made a gift to CofC’s Alumni Association Fund.

Lexi Willbrand has joined the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts in Vienna, VA, as a Development Assistant of Membership. Ms. Willbrand resides in Washington, D.C., and recently made gifts to support CofC’s Alumni Fund and Alumni Association Fund.
